For centuries the forest is the Private ownership of noble families.
After the First World War a Holland timber merchant owns the remaining forest and sells 142 acres to the Belgian state may 5, 1936.
Adjacent plots in 1937 were bought by the Belgian State approx. 5ha forest land adjacent to the boskapel is also held by the State.
More happen in the next few years so that current procurement area 156ha (1995).
