Established on the 20th September 1951 through the pioneering effort of late Amiya Bhusan Dasgupta,the then Sub Divisional Officer(Civil),Mangaldai,with a profound sense of social commitment,supported by most enterprising official colleague senior EAC Late Sarat Ch. Baruah and some leading citizens of the district of the time.Mangaldai College today happens to be the only full-fledged institution of higher education in the remote part of the state inhabited mainly by Economically and Socially backward people.The college started functioning well under the leadership of founder Principal Late Purander Sarma with zeal of spreading knowledge among youngsters of the area.
