  Solanki King Sidh Raj Jayshinh built Shastraling lake on the river Saraswati aboubt 1000 thousand years ago to solve scracity of drinking water. During course of contruction of this lake, the King molested one lady labourer nmaed Jasma Odan. That lady gave 'SHRAP' saying that no water would come/remain in the lake. Ozas ( Joshi) suggested that one human being having 32 virtues should be devoted in the lake. Accordingly one untouchable (Dalit ) youth named MAYO had been devoted. Before giving life, the youth put certain demands before king including to removal of untouchability/caste discrimination and the king agreed to do so. Therefater, the lake remained ful of water. One Hindi film ' Andher Nagri ' acted by Nasirudin Shah is made on this theme. It is also told that dalit youth Mayo was so powerful soldier that some brahmin ozas wanted to kill him and they were successful to kill him in the name of life devotion. Dalits particularly in north Gujarat worship Veer Mayo and celebrate his martyer day as Veer Maya Satam. Veer Mayo amar raho. Jay ho.

  अस्पुश्यता दूर करनेमे अगर किसिने सबसे पहेली शुरुआत की उसका श्रेय वीर माया को जाता है।अस्पुश्यता दूर करनेमे अगर किसिने सबसे पहेली शुरुआत की उसका श्रेय वीर माया को जाता है। Sahastraling talav developed by Siddharaj. पाटन और आजूबाजू के गावों मे पानी की बड़ी समस्या थी। तो राजाजी ने तलाव खुदवाने का आयोजन किया। यहा कम करने के लिए कई मजदूर को बहार से भी लाया गया। राजा का स्वभाव तो आप लोग जानतेही हो जहा देखि सुंदर नारी, उसे बनाली अपनी रानी। तो सिद्धराजजी को भी एक नारी पसंद आ गई और उसे पाने की कौशिक की उसके पति को भी मर दिया वह नारी सती निकली उसने राजा को श्राप दिया के तू जो पानी के लिए तलाव खुदवा रहा है। उसमे पानी नहीं आयेगा। यह श्राप दे कर वह अपने पति के साथ सती हो गयी। कई जोजन खुदाई करने के बावजूद पानी नहीं आया बारा बारा साल निकाल गए। तभ किसिने सलाह दी की ३६ लक्षण वाले किसी आदमी की जब बली दी जाएगी तभी पानी आयेगा। बहुत ढूंढनेके बाद धोलका के नजदीक एक लड़का मिला जो वीर मायो जो ३६ लक्षण का था। पर वो नीची जाती का था। राजा ने वीर माया को बुलाया और कहा के तुझे अपने राज्य के भले के लिए अपना बलिदान देना पड़ेगा। वीर माया ने कहा महाराज मे निचली जाती का हु....तो मेरे बलिदान के बाद सहस्त्रलिंग तलाव भर जाएगा वो पानी मे मेरा खून भी होगा तो एक नीची जाती के आदमी की वजह से आपका तलाव अस्पुश्य नहीं हो जाएगा। राजा सोच मे पड गया। फिर वीर माया ने आप मेरे समाज को देखिये जिसकी कमर पे भी झाड़ू लगाया है और हाथ मे कटोरा लेके चलना पड़ता है। ऐसा क्यू कम हम इंसान नहीं है। अगर आप यह अस्पुश्यता दूर करेंगे तोही मे अपना बलिदान दूंगा। राजा तैयार हुवा। बादमे वीर माया का बलिदान दिया गया इसका खून जमीन पे पड़ते ही सहस्त्रलिंग तलाव पानी से भर गया। एक निचली जाती के वीर माया के बलिदान की वजह से पाटन को पानी मिला। और अस्पुश्यता दूर करनेमे अगर किसिने सबसे पहेली शुरुआत की उसका श्रेय वीर माया को जाता है। आज वीर माया सातम है।

  He was one of the last Buddhist leaders of Gujarat. The newly established and fast rising brahminical religion had already reduced the Buddhists (the ones who refused to be converted) to the lowest status in new society. He was the last hope of the Buddhists of Western India and he was the general of the army of the Buddhist rebels. At death he only asked for removing of various restrictions put on his people like not allowing them to reside within the city/village walls/boundaries, not giving them employment, not trading with them etc. However, the priests of the King persuaded the king to accede to his demands only if his people publicly disown Buddhism and pledge allegiance to the new religion. He could succeed only partly. He left huge unfinished work for his people. A large part of that work is still unfinished. to
