Mendola Funicular Railway (Caldaro sulla strada del vino/Kaltern an der Weinstraße)

One of the longest and steepest in Europe. Opened in 1903. It avoids having to go up to the Mendola via the very twisty and sometimes dangerous (landslides) road.
