Pronounced Chin-um, this is a village/district of Basingstoke. Originally a hamlet on the Reading Road, this developed in the 1970s to its approximate size now and the ringroad was built. Includes an Industrial Estate, mostly for offices rather than industry and a shopping centre, including the town's Tesco supermarket and a library.
