region, residential area
The Berg Estate is an area of Basingstoke which was built in 1957 just before the New Town development. It is named after Ellis Berg who started a company which built the estate (mostly bungalows). Nearly all of them are named after the surnames of former mayors of the town, apart from Buckland Avenue which is named after the company's headquarters: Buckland House in Esher.
