This is Narimattam House, the house of "Narimattam" family in North Kerala. The Narimattam family has its roots in one of the first families converted to Christianity by St. Thomas the Apostle of Christ around AD 52. Migrated from Central Travncore in the 1950's, the Narimattam family was the first to settle down in this beautiful town of Udayagiri.This led to wide scale migration from Central Travancore to Udayagiri. Since then,the family was instrumental in every social , economic, political and cultural devolopment in and around this place.

The family owned hundreds of acres of land and did businesses like Cinema Hall, Commodity Trading etc.St.Mary's church, Udayagiri was built on the land donated by the N J Chacko, the head of Narimattam family.

The head of the family N J Chacko(Kuttichettan)was a well known planter and a highly influential socialist. N J Chacko married Annama Vettoor, daughter of V.T Sebastian (Devasiachan)Vettoor of Ettumanoor Vettor family.Before settling down in Udayagiri, N J Chacko was a businessman in Palai, Kottayam district. He was a highly successful businessman with business interests ranging from plantation to banking.

The members of Narimattam family are spread acorss the globe with strong presence in Kerala, USA and U.K.Currently, Antony Narimattam, the second son of N J Chacko stays in Narimattam House with his family.
