Freight services are due to restart at Fratton goods depot, between the station and the B&Q warehouse, on November 30th 2007 following 30 years of disuse. According to an article in Rail (576), the start-up costs are very low at £600,000 and the first freight will be recycled paper to Shotton on Deeside. The project is a personal victory for assistant harbour master Jerry Clarke, who has been campaigning for this for 10 years.
