The University of Houston Sugar Land, often referred to as UH Sugar Land or UHSL, was founded in 1996 as a higher education "teaching center" of the University of Houston System located in Sugar Land, Texas. It was originally named the Fort Bend Institute. It was transferred from the University of Houston System to University of Houston control in January 2012.
