The Romanesque Revival building was constructed in 1896 and opened as Indianapolis Fire Department Station 9 on February 8, 1897. In 1920, it got its first Stutz firetruck. It ceased operation as a fire station on January 10, 1961. Now known as Aspire House, the building is under renovation to hold a community center and apartment units.
