Secret 580W / 80E Onramp (Oakland, California) | freeway

Nowhere else in this area can one get on 580W / 80E. At times it is possible to here. The unused ramp has been closed off for construction lately though; maybe they're making it a legit onramp.

I think this may be one of the few remnants of the old (pre-freeway) roadbeds that went to the Bay Bridge from MacArthur, when MacArthur was the San Francisco Highway.

  • Be careful, you can ONLY get onto 80E on this on-ramp. It comes onto the freeway too late to hook up with 580W.
  • Nope, 580 West goes to San Rafael so it's in plenty of time for that.
