This is a laid-back but high-personality sports bar with a grill. The clientele covers all ages. It is perhaps the most peculiar and well-known public establishment in West Menlo Park.

Trivia: The Dutch Goose was the first non-academic, non-military node on the Internet. A worker at SRI (or Stanford University, I forget) had one set up so he could work there after hours.

  • That story about being the first commercial node on the internet sounds fairly rather apocryphal, particularly considering that places like Bells Labs (AT&T) and Watson Research Labs (IBM) were on the net back when 'personal' computers were too large to lug into the Goose.

  • there were over 200 workstations networked to the data center way over past tressider union sp?? it wouldn't surprise me if they extended that network off campus.
