St. Joseph County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana. Census 2010 put the population at 301,559, making St. Joseph County the fouth most-populated county in Indiana. Formed in 1830, it was named for the St. Joseph River which flows through it toward Lake Michigan. The county seat is South Bend.

St. Joseph County is part of the South Bend–Mishawaka, IN-MI, Metropolitan Statistical Area.

St. Joseph County is home to more than eight colleges and universities including but not limited to Notre Dame University, Indiana University, Purdue Ext., Bethel College, St. Mary's College and an Ivy Tech campus.
