One of only two Gibson Counties in the the United States. The other is Gibson County, Indiana. Strange that the seats of both counties are large cities in New Jersey. Gibson County, TN - Trenton / Gibson County, IN - Princeton.
Gibson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is included in the Jackson, Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 48,152. The 2005 Census Estimate placed the population at 48,148, it is the bigger of the two counties against Gibson County, Indiana's 39,626. Its county seat is Trenton.
The two counties have one main thing in common, The have fairs that are billed as the oldest in their regions. The Gibson County Tennessee Fair is held each August in Trenton. The fair is billed as the "oldest continuously running fair in the South", while Gibson County, Indiana's is the oldest continuously running fair in the Midwest. The fair has been held annually since 1865.
The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival is held annually during the first full week of May in Humboldt. In the last several years, the festival has brought in up to 100,000 people from across the area.[citation needed] Popular festival events include Thursday's traditional Jr. Parade, which is The World's Largest Non-Motorized Parage, Friday's Grand Floats Parade, the Horse Show, Governor's Luncheon, Carnival, Prayer Breakfast, Car Show, 5K and 10K Runs, and Festival Beauty Reviews.
