Some examples are;
1. First Achromatic telescope
2. Early solar microscope
3. Early seismograph
4. Galvanoplastics
5. Early electric lights
6. The automobile (Russo-Balt K12/20 and a GAZ-M20 Pobeda).

  • Initially the museum opened in 1872 with an exhibit in Aleksandr Gardens to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great, an amateur scientist. Then for several years, the museum was located on Prechistenka Street before moving to this location in 1877. From the beginning to was too small to house all the things collected. The north wing was added in 1896 and the south in 1907.
