Salboni used to be a non descript village in the Kharagpur - Adra railway line. However, with the start of Currency note press (BRBNL)the place has prospered. This railway line was hauled by steam engine run trains till late 1990s, currently the railway line is fully electrified. Similarly, the elctricity will be gone everyday for unknown hours but with prosperity and importance things have changed, roads been built and telephone services strengthened.
One can go the small shops on the railway station road and will be amazed to find the stuff one can buy, almost anything from latest personal helthcare items to cell phones and internet connection. Isn't that amazing to be available in a village in India. Globalisation is trickling down.
Overall, Salboni is a great place to visit to enjoy the simplicity of village life and also the mundane politics of small town.
