One of Porto’s landmarks and famous monuments, Porto City Hall is an imposing building that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, provided with a 70 m high tower with a carillon clock.
The building was designed by the architect Correia da Silva and started being built in 1920. It consists of six floors, a basement and two courtyards. The central tower is accessible by an indoor staircase with 180 steps.
The facade of granite is decorated with a dozen of sculptures, designed by José Sousa Caldas and Henrique Moreira representing the various activities linked forever to Porto, as the winemaking, industry or navigation
