Androusa Castle

Built by the Franks in the 13th century, of which only remains of the outside fortification enclosure are preserved. Traces of Roman bath and constructions of marble were also revealed.
The Castle of Androusa is medieval building of the 13th century ruins of the rescued in good condition today in Messinia Androusa 21 kilometers from Kalamata. Perched on a small hill and supervises all the plain of the area is currently used for various events .
The castle was built by the prince of Achaia and Baron of Kalamata William II Villehardouin after about 1250 .. In the late 14th century was under the power of Navarrese , the 15th century passed to the Byzantines and then the Ottomans , the next year changed hands between the Ottomans and Venetians .. The castle was within the Frankish bench and enjoyed this time of great growth and acne.
