The heart of the City of Vernon is Polson Park. At the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 97, Polson Park is 13.5 ha of turf grass, trees, specialty gardens and sports fields. The bandshell is often the site of civic celebrations, concerts and special events.
Picnic tables and benches allow visitors a shaded respite to watch lawn bowlers, children at the playground, spray park and the duck ponds. Tennis courts, a football stadium and running track attract the more active viistors. The nature trail along Vernon Creek offers views and access to the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden and Floral Clock.
