E.H. Young founded the store, in order to capitalize on the town's lack of gas and cigarette taxes. There is no filling station today, however, the tradition of low prices on cigarettes and alcohol has been continued. Red X features a fully stocked grocery section, an Ace Hardware store, a dollar store and drug and sundry items, cigar and tobacco humidor, full-range alcoholic beverages with 300 international beers and micro-brews, and one of the finest wine departments in the area. Regular wine tastings are on the store schedule. Just prior to Independence Day, it also sells fireworks; the tent can be seen on the map. It is worth a visit just to see the late Young's museum quality collection of.....old stuff on display.
