Gainsborough Old Hall is a medieval manor built in the mid 15th Century: one of the finest in the country. Both Richard III and, later, Henry VIII were guests of the Burgh family who lived there. Original features include the kitchen, Great Hall, Tower and wings. The building has seen many uses such as a linen factory, theatre, tenements, tavern and soup kitchen.
After falling into neglect in more recent times, the hall was ultimately saved from demolition in 1949 by the Friends of Gainsborough Old Hall (FGOH). Presently in the care of English Heritage, Gainsborough Old Hall is open to the public. There are various planned events at the hall throughout the year.
