History of Mammut
Due to the faster pace of urban life, people have come to prefer meeting points and community areas where they can do their shopping, relax, and quickly attent to do their affairs. In line with social expectations of the 21st century the Mammut Shopping and Entertainment Center, a pioneer of this new type of community space, opened its gates in the heart of Buda’s Downtown in 1998. As a result of the development concept of its founders – Sándor Kenyeres and Sándor S. Nagy – Mammut II, a new wing of the shopping and entertainment center, was opened to the general public in 2001. The building complex of Mammut I and II is located at the intersection of three affluent districts on the Buda side of Budapest, on the northern part of Moszkva Square and Széna Square. With its daily traffic of 23 thousand vehicles and 460 thousand commuters, this transportation junction experiences the highest traffic flow in Buda.
As a result of continuous development and investments, the building complex of Mammut I and II, with a total gross area of 103 thousand square meters and containing more than 330 shops on an area of almost 58,000 square meters, receives 35-40 thousand visitors daily – the equivalent of the population of a small town.
