  • Any one thinking of living in Onley should be aware that all access to surrounding countryside, peoples park, & canal walks, is being denied through closure of footpaths used by locals for many years an act by the prison service devaluing the quality of life to residents.
  • Onley prison is ok as far as prison goes.I spent 2 years in there and i found it ok until they thought that it was a good idea to cut the assotiation time from 2hours a niite to 1hour a nite.Because its adult mixed with yoi`s the SCREWS take upon themselves to treat adults like kids, which i think is the worst thing for a fully grown man to put up with.
  • I spent 18 months of a three year sentence there. I was there when it was Juveniles and YOI and througout the change into YOI & HMP Onley. November 2003 - May 2005. When I first got there I was on G wing. Well equipped wing with good officers. After a month I went to D wing. No electricity, no tv, just me myself and I. To be honest I prefered it like that. Prison shouldn't offer you luxuries like TV. I was there to be punished and punishment should be given (thank you Labour). I got some qualifications in IT from a VERY good teacher. Was library orderly too, very cool job to have inside. Some of the officers on D wing were idiots, but when it went to HMP some transferred because they realised they couldn't act that way with adults. The majority of them were good old boys though. I would mention a few names but I don't want want to get anyone in trouble. Never forget the mini riot just before Christmas 2004 though... and that bloke that climbed up on the roof because they took his tv off him, apparently he went up there to watch 'Sky'. lol
