HMP Lowdham Grange opened in 1998. It is a Category B closed training prison for adult males. It is operated and managed by Serco Ltd.

Accommodation: Predominantly single cells, but newly received prisoners may go into shared cells and wait until a single cell is available.

Operational capacity: 564 as of 11th October 2006

Reception criteria: Category B. Determinate sentence of at least 4 years. At least 12 months left to serve. Labour grade 1 and 2 (no in-patient health care facilities).

Regime: Workshops, education, limited vocational training, offending behaviour courses (including ETS). Some long waiting lists for latter. VTU programme and CARATs. Psychology and Counselling support. 'Listener' type scheme. Diverse multi-faith chaplaincy.
