Sahiwal (ساہیوال)
Sahiwal is a growing city in southeastern Punjab province of Pakistan and the administrative centre of Sahiwal District. Founded in 1865, the town was formerly known as Montgomery.
Sahiwal Division (Urdu: دوسوں ساہیوال) is one of the nine Divisions of Punjab province of Pakistan. As of 1998, current regions of Sahiwal had a population of 6,271,247 people, with an annual growth-rate of 1.92%.Since 2008, Sahiwal District along with Okara District and Pakpattan District has comprised the Sahiwal Division. The city of Sahiwal is the capital of both the district and the division. About 18 miles south-west of Sahiwal is Harappa, an ancient city of the world, oldest urban center of Harappan or Indus civilization in South Asia. About 28 miles (45 km) west of Sahiwal, at Kamalia, is the site of Malli city captured by Alexander the Great in 325 bc. Alexander stayed in this region of Punjab for two years and fought almost 12 wars during his stay.

  • My city, Sahiwal is peaceful quite and green city, its share in the history of Urdu,Punjabi poetry is Great and memorable, the mosque where great Pnjabi poet Waris Shah wrote his legendary Love tale Heer is situated 12 miles from the city and great Urdu poet Majeed Amjad create his memorable blank verse in this city. I love my Sahiwal very much.

  • I love Sahiwal too much. It is a very beautiful city. Its a very peaceful city. People are very nice. Milk, yougurt & laban are too much tasty. The study period Govt. Compehensive school & Govt college Sahiwal from 1985 to 1993 can't forget. I love this city too much.
