Jalore District जालोर is a district of Rajasthan state in western India. The city of Jalore is the administrative headquarters of the district. The district has an area of 10,640 km2 (4,108 sq mi) (3.11 percent of Rajasthan's area)Thre are five sub-units Ahore, Jalore, Bhinmal, Raniwara and Sanchore.
Jalore, Ahore, Bhinmal, Raniwara, Sanchore, Sayala and Bagoda are tehsils and Bhadrajun have Sub-Tehsil Office. There are seven Panchayat Samitis including Jalore, Bhinmal,Akoli and Sayala. Jaswantpura and Chitalwana is declared to be made tehsils in Rajasthan budget-2012-13.There are 767 revenue villages in the district grouped under 264 Gram Panchayat villages. Three Municipalities are situated at Jalore, Bhinmal and Sanchore.The economy of district is mainly based on agriculture and animal husbandry. The oilseeds specially mustard oil seed is predominant crop. Wheat, bajra, kharif pulses, barley, jowar and seasmum are other produces.
Of late some mineral based industries are set up based on mineral available from local mines. The main minerals produced are: Gypsum, limestone, bajari, murram, granite, and graded flourite.Jalore is located in the Jalore district in Rajasthan. It is an ancient place and in ancient times this city was famous by the name of Jabalipura. It is situated near the river Sukhi. In 9th century, this city was a flourishing town but over the years many interesting buildings and sites have been built. There are many attractive destinations in Jalore. Some of the important attractions of the city are:
1. Jalore Fort: it is a fort which was built in the 10th century. Here you can view the brilliance of architecture of that time. This building has an impressive structure and it is the popular destination of that place. The Jalor fort is the main attraction of the city. It is located on the hillock which is known as Songir. Here you will observe a different type of environment in the locality as it has been ruled both by the Muslim and Rajput. One of the most important and unique feature of the fort is that it has a mosque, a Hindu temple and a Jain temple which are located inside the fort.
2. Sire Mandir Temple of Jalore: here many saints came and also meditated in this place. Here Pandavas also spent some of their time. Here there are many temples for Shiva and Shakti. Out of all the temples Sire Mandir Temple is very much famous. This temple is very much famous for its natural beauty belief and austerity.
3. Lohanagarh of Jaswantpura: it is 70 km far from Jalore. It is situated in the valley of mountain. It is famous for its natural beauty. Here the temperatures in summers are comparatively low. It is a nice place for the visitors.
4. Fort of Kot Kasta: it is 65 kms away from the headquarter Jalore. Inside the fort’s boundary wall there is a village which is known as Kot and outside the boundary wall it is known as Kasta. Jointly both known as Kot Kasta.
There are many other places to visit like Quila or Fort of Bhadrajun, Sundha Mata Temple, Sevada’s Pataleshwar and many more. Here the closest airport is Jodhpur and it is connected with all the major cities. Near railway station is also at Jodhpur which is also connected to the major cities. You will get the regular bus services from Udaipur, Jaipur,Jaisalmer and many other important places. The best period to visit Jalore is from October to March.
