"Kronendal Primary (originally named Hout Bay Public School) was founded during the Anglo-Boer War on 6 May 1901 with 21 pupils.

It was situated in pleasant rural surroundings, on the tranquil Oakhurst Farm, but 10 years later moved into Hout Bay village on to the site which is today occupied by Valley Pre-Primary. In 1965 the Board of Trustees decided to change the name to Kronendal, to reflect its unique links with one of the original farms of the area, and in 1975 the present school buildings were constructed. During the decades many renowned teachers taught - and continue to teach at Kronendal and the academic and all-round educational record is outstanding." - www.kronendal.co.za/
