In 1968 Treasure cay owners Dumas Milner & Leonard Thompson sold their interest to Deltec International and others. Treasure Cay is technically not an island but a large peninsula connected to Great Abaco by a narrow spit of land. Here you will find a small community of mostly winter residents, a 3,000-acre farm that grows winter vegetables and fruit for export, and a spectacular 3½-mile-long beach, listed by National Geographic as “one of the ten best beaches in the world”. The development's centerpiece is the Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina, with its Dick Wilson-designed golf course and a 150-slip marina that has boat rentals, a dive shop, pool, restaurant, and lively bar. Treasure Cay's commercial center consists of two rows of shops near the resort as well as a bank, post office, Laundromat, ice-cream parlor, a couple of well-stocked grocery stores, and the BaTelCo. There are also car- and scooter rental offices.
