"The 773.08 acres that comprised Helm Auxiliary Field No.6 was purchased by the U.S. Government on 11 January 1943. The site was developed into an auxiliary landing field and basic flying school by the Army Air Corps in connection with the Lemoore Basic Flying School. The improvements were roads, hard-surfaced runways, fencing, a crash truck shelter, a stage house, a control tower, a motor house, and latrines.

"On 15 October 1944, the site was declared surplus by the War Assets Administration (WAA). The WAA assumed accountability of the site on 12 September 1946. Available records do not indicate if any deed clauses, provisions, or restrictions existed for the site. Available information does not indicate when the property was acquired from the WAA; however, the site is currently owned by several private parties and is primarily used as farmland."
