Living Trailers

Most of the tents are gone now, in favor of these trailers. Manufactured in Italy. Just so happens, many Italian troops are on base. Coincidence, or proof this war is a business?

[Actually, "most" is a gross exaggeration. All Air Force and most Army troops still live in old temper tents grouped into 'Tent Cities'. Only civilian contractors and a few hundred soldiers get 'luxury' trailer accomodations -- 2 people to each 6 x 6 cell!]

  • I stayed in one of those tents from Dec 04 through May 05. While they weren't in the best of shape they did provide something the trailors couldn't, community. There were 6 of us in each tent and the companionship was a lot like being home. It also decreased the feeling of isolation.
  • The Italian forces stayed at Camp Mittica, which was nearby but separate from the Tallil/Adder/Ali AB complex. The trailers were purchased thru a local middle east vendor.
