Shiratoki Pod is hamlet of village Bhimnala about 1.5 Kms from Bhimnala and forms a part of Group Grampanchayat Chikhaldoh and Kundi. This hamlet is exclusively inhabited by premitive tribe Kolam. This tribe is clasified as primitive (vulnarable/threatned) by planning commission of India as their major mode of livelihood is hinting and gathering forest produce, their population is in few thousands and is gradually declining, they have very low literacy rate and a very high infant and maternal mortality rates. These tribes needs immediate attention by policy makers and implementers otherwise these tribes may get extinct.

    SRUJAN a voluntary organisation based in Mangurda near Pandharkawada has initated a Home Based Neo-natal Care Initative in this villages since last five years. Mrs. Nirutta Atram of Lalguda Pod serves as Village Health Worker for this Pod. She has been trained by SRUJAN and is capable of addressing minor health ailments, problems of neonates and maternal care for this village. Mr Shalik Tekam of Village Tembhi and Mr Ranjit Todsam of Village Mahadapur are volunteers of SRUJAN they involved in capacitating the villagers here to efectively utilise the provisions of panchayat in schedule area as per PESA Act. In the summer of 2007 villagers have formed Mohua Banks to store Mahua flowers which is a Non Timber Forest Produce, this shall enable them to get better monitory returns. This process has reinstated a confidance in them to trade this comodity in small quantity and claim ownership rights over NTFP as envisaged in the PESA Act. Forest Department and Tribal Development Department Authorites have been kind enough to provide necessary support and guidance for the same.
