A large, rambling 1- and 2-story random-course-stone-clad house in the French farmhouse mode with symmetrical articulation of the informally arranged high-hip-roof constituent pavilions. It sits on the former estate of Mrs James H Van Alen, also called Avalon. When the estate burned down, she and her husband built a new one. Mrs van Alen died in 2002 and the estate was sold.
