Long Beach, CA 90802
Designed by Edward L. Mayberry and built in 1923, the Blackstone is a six-story apartment hotel building featuring a simplified Renaissance Revivial design. Its prime location overlooked the Pike amusement zone and beach, and its design maximized views and air circulation. Situated next to the Sovereign, it serves as a visual anchor to the past. It is one of a cluster of highrise hotels and apartment-hotels built in the Twenties on or near Ocean Boulevard.
