  • Welcome to Sri Aman formerly known as Simanggang. This is a very historic town beside River Batang Lupar. Over last 200 years many a braveman died fighting for whatever were their cause. Sadly nobody care nowaday or even know those men. Around here most of Brooke's battles were fought and many brave men both British and local perished. The toughest and most notorious headhunters once lived in this area. The Simanggangians were once the most feared people in Sarawak. Today this town is one of the most undeveloped towns in Sarawak. It is 6 km off the Tran Borneo Highway and except for pepper, which is a plenty and the finest in the world, there is little else here. But let Sri Aman remains a sleepy hollow. Who wants all those development and pollution that come along with it anyway. There is a Brooke era fort known as Fort Alice. It is now in ruin, shortly it will perish and forgotten like all those warriors. Let us save the fort now so that all those who died fighting for their belief will live on in our memories. Let not forget Rentap, Linggir, Abang Aing, Rajah Charles Brooke, Sharip Sahap, Mullar, Asun and others for they were the great Simanggangians.
