Kadena Elementary School (KES) was built in 1953. The facility is composed of 25 buildings set on 10 acres of land. With over 1300 students and 85 teachers, the school is the largest elementary school in Okinawa. During the 1997-1998 school year, Kadena Elementary School made significant progress in the implementation of the School Improvement Process. Increased staff and parent ownership in the SIP have served to support increased gains in academic achievement.
