Liberty High School serves the population within Bedford County, VA centered around the City of Bedford (the county seat). The class size in the 1980's were around 200/class. The mascot is the Minuteman (from Revolutionary War days). Seniors used to paint our class number on the roof of the gym. Great place to go to school, we even had a smokers area back in the day. Built in the 1960's it was said to have once been the scene of a 'race riot' during that time (Black Panthers and KKK). In the early 1980's a former student turned florists assistant (high on cocaine (?)) came after his student girlfriend with a 12-gage shotgun but was disarmed by the legendery local Sheriff Wells laying in wait in a bathroom for him to walk his way. No one was injured.
