this is one of the last drive-in movie theaters in the state. a little shabby but good for nostalgia

The Imperial Valley Drive-In Movies had it’s Grand Opening in the mid-1940s. For quite a while the Drive-In had one screen but with the good outcome of how the business was coming out they later added a second one. The Drive-In was a place where many friends and families got together and watched a movie in the trunk or roof of their cars. The whole area was just a parking lot that could fit up to 550 cars separated in two. It was a peaceful environment, at a low cost, and one was able to make endless memories.
The Drive-In would open at 7pm sharp. After a long day parents came home from work and children out of school. Going to the Drive-In was a great way to spend time together as a family. Many family now-a-days go to the movies just because they want to watch a movie and take their family with them. Although when families would go to the Drive-In they would all go together to go out enjoy the fresh air in the back of their car watching a movie enjoying the moment. Its those little details or settings that make a memory unforgettable. Besides families there are groups of friends that go together to spend time and have fun.
Unfortunately, the Imperial Valley Drive-In closed down on April 13, 2013. The Drive-In wasn’t making as much business anymore. It is now used as a swap meet area where many people go out and sale their belongings. Many people of the valley were disappointed of the closure of the one place that created so many memories for so many people. The Drive in might have not been the longest opened business in the valley. Yes, there might be many other places that have a greater meaning to the valley but this one place got many people together. So that they could spend time together and make memories, unforgettable ones. The Motor Vu Drive-In of the Imperial Valley is the
representation of the united people of the valley throughout all these years.
