Carmanah Point Lightstation is on the west coast of Vancouver Island about 22 mile southeast of Bamfield.The Carmanah Lightstation, or lighthouse as it was called in those days, was established on Sept. 15, 1891, approximately 154 km from Victoria on the west coast of Vancouver, came to be known as the graveyard of the Pacific. Merchant sailing ships came to grief due to strong currents, heavy weather, thick fog and the lack of navigational aids.
