Laredo International Airport is a public airport located 3 nautical miles northeast of downtown Laredo, Texas. The airport was established in 1942 as Laredo Army Airfield, which operated until 1945. It briefly served as a public municipal airport before being established as an Air Force base in 1952, where the 38th Combat Support Wing and 3640th Pilot Training Wing were based. Laredo AFB closed in 1973 and was converted to civilian use. The airport currently has three runways and is served by three commercial airlines.
