Caroline Island or Caroline Atoll (also known as Millennium Island since 2001), is the easternmost of the uninhabited coral atolls which comprise the southern Line Islands of Kirabati in the central Pacific Ocean.
Since the 1995 realignment of the International Date Line, Caroline Island is one of the first points of land on Earth to see the the New Year every January 1.
