This is a storage area for retired Conair Firecat aircraft, which are now used for spare parts for the company's remaining fleet.

Built in Canada by de Havilland under license from Grumman, CP-121 Trackers were originally used in the anti-submarine role. After retirement from military service, they were found to be ideally suited for forest fire fighting. Conair Aviation operated a large fleet of these aircraft (including ones built by Grumman and used by US Navy), which they renamed Firecats. As air tankers, the Firecats dropped fire retardant to slow the spread of forest fires.

Conair also used many other types of aircraft as air tankers--two DC-6Bs are visible in this image.

Based in Abbotsford, Conair Aviation is a world leader in the use of forest fire control aircraft, with a fleet of 50 aircraft.
