A little used station on the Crewe to Liverpool line.
Before the Beeching axe there used to be services to Warrington, and at one time to Northwich, Wharton and even summer services to Blackpool and Devon.
This station probably survived the Beeching axe only because, at that time, nearby Weaverham had a large population of people relocated from Liverpool and who used to travel back there by rail frequently. On Saturday mornings in the mid 1950s the down platform would be crowded and the air full of excited scouse accents.
If there were room to greatly expand car parking at Hartford this station would likely be deemed unneeded nowadays.
