A peaceful town with fun-and-fashion loving people, soft-and-sweet at heart, warm and welcoming. (Premaad Bhinash, je koi sparshe ene bhinjave)
This is the nearest town to the historically famous, Dandi, famous for Gandhiji's Dandi Kuch (March to Dandi) for protesting against tax imposed on salt by British rule. Dandi has a beautiful beach which has potential of becoming a good tourist spot considering its inherent features and easy access by rail and road (National Highway 8).
Navsari is one of the few places developed by Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gayakwad. People still remember him for a sound infrastructure, particularly road, water and drainage systems.
Majority of the Parsis, after landing at Sanjan and establishing their Agiyari (Temple, fire place), shifted to this town and gave heroes like Dadabhai Naoroji, Jamshedji Tata, Zubin Mehta to the nation. As can be seen, Parsis have made enormous contribution in societal development, particularly in the area of education and health, by establishing number of schools and hospitals. The culinary art of this community is known to the world with the preparation like Dhan saak and Patra fish, however, few places like Navsari had a previlege of Sali gosh and Taleli Levti (fried mud-fish), and locally brewed liquor made from jaggery.
In last few decades, the place has become famous for SING (roasted ground nut) and CHANAA, and for diamond cutting and polishing business.
