The University of Minnesota's beloved "Brickhouse", stood on this site. Minnesota was a powerhouse college football program for many of the years played in this facility. The Golden Gophers moved into the Metrodome in 1982, but will return to an on-campus facility in 2009 with the building of TCF Bank Stadium.
This site, consisting of McNamara Alumni Building and swim stadium, were the original home of the Gopher's Memorial Stadium, a horseshoe-shaped stadium (nicknamed "the Brickhouse") that opened to the adjacent East Gym.
