Koblenz is Latin for "confluence" or the place where rivers meet - its location is at the intersection of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Koblenz is a town of just over 100,000 residents. The German Army Forces Command headquarters is located here. The town's vivid history can be seen in the fortress walls, towers, castles, monuments and especially its wine. The Romans first brought wine to the region and planted vineyards across its steep slopes. It has become the most prestigious wine region in the country from two famous cultivation areas - The Rhine and Moselle.
