nature reserve, invisible, do not draw title

Dolomiti di Sesto are in the east part of Alto Adige province.

Since 1981, the Dolomiti di Sesto Nature Park stretches from the municipalities of Sesto, San Candido and Dobbiaco to the north-eastern Dolomites, Valle di Landro and neighbouring Belluno.

Covering an area of 11,635 hectares, the nature park is composed above all of rocks, stony ridges and debris. Nevertheless, you will see crocuses, bell flowers, badgers, martens, gentians and orchids, deer (see picture) and woodpeckers.

During World War 1, the Dolomiti di Sesto region was the site of a fierce battle between Italian and austrian forces for two and a half years. Still today you might see bullet-holes in the rocks or rusty shell splinters on the grounds...

The Dolomiti di Sesto Mountains are famous not only for their stunning flora and fauna but also for the majestic Tre Cime Mountains.
