  Unfortunately, due to geological changes, park officials have prohibited visitors from walking into the area of the natural pond. There were prominent signs indicating this upon my visit to the park during summer '08. The land in this area has many underground caves, holes, and sunken streams and is constantly undergoing change creating real and sometimes concealed hazards for the casual hiker/tourist. Still, this is a beautiful park... clean, remote, quiet, nice facilities, and with not too many visitors on weekdays and off season. It is near the Allegheny Trail and many other splendid hiking trails.
