The White River and Honey Creek confluence just west of this location, with this dam creating an impoundment known as Echo Lake. The dam includes a concrete spillway and steel tainter gate control structure, rebuilt in the early 1990s. At the same time previously submerged lands were recovered to expand Veterans Memorial Park, with stone riprap placed along the shore to slow the effects of erosion. Waters at one time were diverted through a sluice, these waters used at least in part to supply a brickworks that once operated where today's Beaumont Field offers a lovely spot for area baseball teams to compete.
