Mirkarwada village in Ratnagiri is very densly populated with nearly 3000 people. The main occupation of the people is fishing with nearly 90% of the people being engaged in fisheries and related activities. Mirkarwada Adarsha Machchhimaar Sanstha has nearly 200 deep sea Pursieners and Trawlers. The people speak Konkani language and follow religion Islam.they are decendents of original local people,who embraced islam by perching of sahabis during the era of prophet.they are mostly shafi followers and towday trend to tabligi jamat,and are religious all the activities of fishing and related business are at stand still on the day of jummah and the day is observed as public holiday in the area. the village has a jama masjid and four other mosques and a seperate madrasa for girls and ladies.the village is at sea coast and is protected from winds and sea currents naturally by the hills of ratna, the famous bhagwati mandir is on one of this hills, the fomous white sea beach is also linked side of the village. recanty a big fishing port is being built and its one face is nearly completed the work of second face is to commence very shortly,after total completion thi fishing port will be the second largest after mumbai in maharashtra.
