Formerly known as Johnson Field, the airport has a staffed control tower, but no commercial air service.

Served as the main base for corporate aircraft operated by the local Ball Corporation and the Ontario Corporation.

One of the best restaurants in the area used to be Vince's located at the airport, which drew large numbers of general aviation traffic from across the Midwest.

The longest is a paved runway extending 6,500 feet. The facility is at an elevation of 937 feet at a distance of about 3 miles from Muncie.
